About OJN Design

I am an experienced home designer, artist and photographer who lives in Santa Fe, NM.

My background includes decades of experience in both custom home design and construction. This includes all aspects of home, landscaping, lighting, interior and custom furniture design.

My interest in art and photography has led me to produce both Fine Art works as well as mastering the skills needed for outstanding Real Estate and Architectural photography, including still and video images along with ‘Matterport’ and drone imaging.

During the course of my practice, I have designed many hundreds of projects, ranging from modest additions to incredible luxury homes. I have been honored with both local and national design awards. A large part of my work has involved extensive whole house remodels done in the demanding environment of our local Historic Districts review and administrative boards of the City of Santa Fe.

Over the years, I have also worked for noted local builders learning the art and science of new home design and construction. I have a comprehensive knowledge and experience base related to all aspects of custom home development, including navigating permit and building requirements and agencies.

Working with me to realize your dreams, you will always have my undivided attention and full involvement, providing you with unmatched, turn-key design services from start to finish.

I am exploring and using what I call a quantum basis for perception. That is, when viewed up close, the images lose their normal “reality” and appear as completely random splashes of color and form. At the proper viewing distance, the quantum shapes blend to become something recognizable. Click on the images noted as “select this” to link to a larger size, where this becomes evident (then expand the image as much as possible in your viewer). Not just pixelation, as the random shapes and placement more accurately represent the primal layer that gives rise to order and our “normal” perceived reality. Contact me if you are interested in hearing more about it.

I especially enjoy recording other non-traditional artists’ work who do temporary, often graffiti, paste on paper, stencils and the like. I find many of these to be “Fine” art, that is they have an underlying message contained within an accomplished presentation. Without capturing them, they soon disappear. It is an unknown, anonymous collaboration, as I add my own twist to their original work. I give credit to and applaud these unsung artists and support their efforts by photographing them before they fade away.

Due to my background and training in art, I consider these images to be more akin to drawing and painting. In this case, the original photograph is the canvas, the digital manipulation the pencil or brush

I am intrigued and interested in the offbeat rather than more traditional notions of what fine art is…To me, art should be intriguing and interesting…it should capture the attention and give one pause to consider.

I will be changing and adding other images periodically, so please check in to see more work.
